Join Giant Robot and Hyphen this Thursday as the author Ed Lin drops by for an evening and reads from his book Waylaid, a first-time treat for the West Coast. Stick around too, as Ed will be signing his new book, Snakes Can’t Run, a sequel to his award-winning novel from 2007, This Is A Bust.
Ed, who is of Taiwanese and Chinese descent, is the first author to win two Members' Choice Awards in the Asian American Literary Awards. His first book, Waylaid, tells the story of a Taiwanese/Chinese American boy struggling to grow up amidst the drudgery and sexual innuendo of his parents’ sleazy motel on the Jersey Shore while This Is A Bust, his second novel, turns the conventions of hard-boiled pulp stories on their head by exploring the unexotic and very real complexities of New York City’s Chinatown, circa 1976, through the eyes of a Chinese-American cop.
This reading and signing will take place in San Francisco on Thursday, April 29 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
