Kyle Chu Wins 2010 Mr. Hyphen Contest

Congratulations to Kyle Chu, our new Mr. Hyphen for 2010. Kyle wins $1,000 for his cause, the Center for Asian American Media.

An evening of celebrating Mr. Hyphen fogged my memory, and in my haste post, I forgot to thank some people.

Much gratitude to our amazing emcee D'Lo, who was great.

Special thanks to our judges filmmaker Alice Wu (Saving Face), Center for Asian American Media chair Dipti Ghosh and Campbell, CA, Mayor Evan Low.

Harry Mok

Editor in Chief Harry Mok wrote about growing up on a Chinese vegetable farm for the second issue of Hyphen and has been a volunteer editor since 2004. As a board member of the San Francisco and New York chapters of the Asian American Journalists Association, Harry has recruited and organized events for student members. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was also a graduate student instructor in the Asian American Studies Department.
