Far East Movement's song "Like a G6" (featuring Dev and The Cataracs) has been tearing up the music billboards lately. It's receiving major play on pop radio stations everywhere. It currently sits at #16 on the billboard top 100, which is easily the highest ever for an Asian American musical group. This is unprecedented territory, and encouraging news for other talented musical groups like Legaci that faced early barriers but see recent traction.

The hip hop-electro-dance blended sound of Far East Movement (FM) is extremely catchy.  "Like a G6" headlines FM's upcoming album Free Wired, which is due out on October 12th and features collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Lil Jon, and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder. 

Free Wired is also a movement the group coined to represent everything from lifestyle, culture, fashion, technology, and mindset. The group explains that their music "represents a free wired lifestyle... Good vibes, positivity and a lot of fun." The group promotes the idea of "geeking out": "Free Wired is about 'geekin out' however you feel most comfortable. Whether it's partying at the club, at home online, dressing a certain way, enjoying a certain activity, whatever. To live free and stay connected 25 hours a day, 8 days a week is where it stems." 

"It's a free-wired lifestyle, fashion, sound," says Kev Nish.

Those of you on the West Coast may recognize another of their recent hits, "Girls on the Dance Floor," which reached #1 in Los Angeles radio markets in 2009. Their music has also been featured on shows like Entourage, CSI, and in movies like Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Get Him to the Greek, and Finishing the Game.
