Hyphen magazine - Asian American arts, culture, and politics

Horror Video Tuesday

First up, a cheerful little film about what happens when you jerk the Tooth Fairy around. My friend Susan Ee made this film, which is currently touring various film festivals. Fun!

Then, of course, I have to help disseminate the new, extremely NSFW, M.I.A. video "Born Free," which was taken down from YouTube for its graphic content. Or maybe it was for its extremely graphic depiction of American-looking soldiers rounding up redheaded men and boys, taking them out into the desert, and shooting them.

As a political statement, it's gut-churning. But as a music video, I gotta say, it sucks. I was so distracted by the horror happening before my eyes that I don't remember a thing about the music.
