Please save this Sunday, April 17, from 12 tp 5 pm in San Francisco, for the memorial for Manong Al Robles.

This is more than a community event. Even if you didn't know poet and lifelong community activist Al Robles, his passing is the end of an era.

As Curtis Choy made clear in his film Manilatown is in the Heart, Al Robles was the spirit of the I-Hotel, as it was when the building was torn down. Manong Al was in the middle of the Asian American Movement in the San Francisco Bay Area, and touched the lives of everyone involved. His memorial will be an amazing opportunity to connect or reconnect with Al's extended community.

I'll be helping to organize volunteers, so if you'd like to help, please email me with your name and cell phone number at claire at the domain of hyphenmagazine with a dot com.
