Armani Ad Campaign Hires First Asian Model
According to New York Magazine's fashion blog, Japanese model Takeshi Kaneshiro will be the first Asian model to appear in Emporio Armani's fall ad campaign. The half-Chinese, half-Japanese model joins the ranks of soccer superstar David Beckham in strutting his stuff in his skivvies on a billboard. I know, it'd be more heartening if it was an Asian American model, but let's hope this step toward diversification is one that'll open doors to more leading men who happen to be Asian American. I've been a fan of Takeshi for a while. In terms of his acting skills, he reminds me of Ryan Gossling, like he's a young guy but has the self-confidence of a veteran thespian.
It's about damn time.
