Yu discussed the growth of bands fronted by Asian American female singers (namely Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) in a 2007 interview with Asian Week. On being Asian American, Yu says, "All these Asian American organizations gravitate towards me. I guess this doesn’t happen very often, and it’s hard breaking through. I don’t really identify as an Asian American in a band. I just want to tell a story and happen to be Asian American."
According to their official site, the band just went into a Mission District recording studio to work on their first full-length album with producer Bill Racine (Flaming Lips, Mates of State) and will be touring the west, midwest, and east coast starting this September.

LoveLikeFire Prep for New Album
I was reading a CNN article about gas prices affecting bands that tour around the country. The article featured a photo and some sound bites from San Francisco indie rock band LoveLikeFire - one of the bands that performed at the Hyphen Music Issue release party back in 2006 - who happens to have Korean American Ann Yu as their lead singer.Yu discussed the growth of bands fronted by Asian American female singers (namely Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) in a 2007 interview with Asian Week.
