Searching for The Great Asian American Film

So, it's that time of year again when we get to finally see ourselves reflected back from the big screen: the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.

Hyphen bloggers will be posting for the next week about their picks, pans and what people are talking about at all the events--so stay tuned and join in the conversation.

The festival’s theme this year seems to focus on Asian Americans going global, especially in terms of backing and inspiration for their films. But I am always on a quest to discover the Great Asian American Film: will it be the South Asian American feature about a relationship termination specialist and his cousin, or the Oscar-winning director’s comedic take on a ping pong movie, or will Wayne Wang prove himself to be the master of the Asian American film? Stay tuned over the next week to find out …
