AZN Award Nominees Announced

AZN announced their list of nominees today for their 3rd annual Asian Excellence Awards. Though AZN TV is now defunct, the (award) show must go on...

This year's hosts are Carrie Ann Inaba, a judge on Dancing With the Stars, and MADtv actor/comedian Bobby Lee.

This is the same award show that Adam Carolla made fun of on the radio a couple years ago. (insert angry emoticon here).

It's nice to have an award show for Asian Americans honoring Asian Americans -- though I don't even know all the folks being nominated. And I've never attended the awards show -- but watch out now! Our very own Mr. Hyphen Luke Patterson will attend this year's awards on April 23 and provide coverage. Stay tuned.

The show also airs on E! Entertainment on May 1 at 6 p.m. ET/PT, 5 p.m. CT and Comcast on Demand beginning May 7 and through the end of May.

And they're asking for your input in a few categories (Favorite TV Personality and Favorite Reality Stars) - you can vote online here. Voting is underway and runs through April 16 and winners will be announced during the telecast.

Here are the internet voting nominees:

Tila Tequila?
Maggie Q for 'Balls of Fury'?
Really?

I think having an annual award show is absolutely vital, so you can see how far we've come and how far we need to go every year, it's good to have this annual reminder.

Looking down at the nominees list, it is actually kind of sobering.

Mainstream need exposure too. =)

When I saw this post, it reminded me about this "Golden Ring Award" I saw on youtube. I was searching for the Mountain Brothers on the site one day and ran into it. Does anyone know what happened to that award show?
