For those of you who are always complaining (and you know you are) that Asian American men don't get enough love -- we hear you, and we're doing something about it. So come out and support your brothers and your cause at our first-ever Mr. Hyphen contest!
That's right: 7 of Asian America's good-doing, community-spirited, sexy and talented hotties compete for the title of Mr. Hyphen. Come ask our contestants questions in our audience-submitted portion of the Q&A. Come cheer and vote for your favorites during the fashion portion (we're considering sleepwear...). Watch them strut their stuff, sing you a song, slam down some spoken word, and lay it on the line for the good cause: The winner takes home a $500 donation to the AsAm nonprofit he represents, a prize, a crown, and bragging rights.

actually, Jim, judging from the pictures you link to, that event is nothing like Mr. Hyphen. if you'll take a look at the description on our Events page, i think you'll realize that men flexing in their speedos is nowhere in our program, nor in our greater social agenda. Mr. Hyphen is just as much about honoring these men and their organizations for the work they do, as it is about having fun with the fact that they're cute and we know it. Hyphen is too smart and politically progressive a magazine to objectify anyone -- male or female -- for their bodies in, excuse me, dumb-ass ways. Mr. Hyphen will NOT be a transparent attempt to overcompensate & objectify ourselves. It *will* be a way for us to give some due applause to the many qualities that make us proud of our Asian American men.
