This is a tremendous loss. I interviewed her at the SJ Fairmont when PB came out. She was super cool, funny, frank, driven and outspoken--especially about how Asians were depicted in the media.

She was also extremely thankful for the press and seemed relieved to be talking to someone who "got it" rather than another white movie critic. While talking to the star of the film TT was rather trying, talking to Kayo was like talking to a cousin or aunt. Very natural and relaxed with lots of great quotes. I'll always remember that and I'm sad there won't be more.

Godspeed, Kayo.
